Tony played for the Blades from 1968-1976. He won numerous England caps while at United and was regarded as one of the best players of his era. No mean feat when you consider that players of his era contained Bobby Charlton, George Best, Rodney Marsh, Charlie George and Denis Law!
Tony scored many memorable goals while at United. A 35-yard screamer against Liverpool was one of the best. However, his second goal against West Ham is the one that sticks in the memory. In front of the BBC Match of The Day cameras, Currie picked up the ball on the halfway line, drifted inside, turned one defender inside and out before stroking the ball past the keeper from 15 yards out. John Motson described it as "A quality goal, by a quality player".
Tony still works at Bramall Lane as United's Football in the Community officer.
